Terry – Muscle Injuries

An unfortunate accident involving a gate resulted in significant muscle and tendon injuries around Terry’s shoulder, neck and chest areas. We used acupuncture alongside other treatments to promote healing in the area and treat the compensatory muscle patterns which developed after the trauma. Terry responded beautifully to the needles, embracing the spa treatment, and his muscles visibly changed shape and tone in front of our eyes during sessions as he let go. We then moved to a maintenance treatment pattern to support him through his return to work. Now that the injuries have healed, he will only need sessions as and when his owner would like them as part of routine ridden horse support.

Terry’s owner says:

“When Terry tore both sides of his pectoral muscles, Jo suggested that a course of acupuncture may help him as a complimentary therapy in addition to traditional treatments. Jo explained how the needles work and the benefits and effects that we may see. His first session was utterly amazing. We were staggered by just how much of an effect the
needles had on him, he was totally relaxed as if in ‘another zone’ and gave the appearance of a medically sedated horse. The enlarged and tight muscle masses, particularly through his neck and shoulders, reduced significantly during that first session, and with further sessions, almost disappeared. The frequency of treatments reduced over time and we are
now down to maintenance visits, as and when required.
The results of Terry’s acupuncture have been beyond any expectations that I may have had and I will not hesitate to continue treatments. Jo has been really informative, understanding and explanatory and I would highly recommend her if you’re considering acupuncture for your horse.
Thank you Jo!”
