Laser for Mocha – 24yr old Connemara who sustained a kick injury to his right hock
Mocha is a 24yr old Connemara who sustained a kick injury to his right hock area and from this has inflammation of the long plantar ligament. This is a ligament that runs down from the point of the hock to several points at the lower-rear of the hock
Mocha is receiving a course of 5 sessions of our medical grade class 4 therapeutic laser, this was over a 3 week period with 2 sessions a week for 2 weeks followed by one session on the 3rd week. The aim is to help stop the development of curb over the hock area, a curb is when an outward bowing or swelling occurs. A horse can usually continue in a non-painful ridden career if this occurs but in some cases it can cause a recurrence of inflammation and pain.
The laser can be used to treat many different aliments or injuries with treatment times varying from 3 minutes to 12 minutes dependent upon the affected area.
