Kidson – Arthritis support
This handsome fella is an older thoroughbred with arthritis, and his diligent owner uses acupuncture as part of his routine ongoing support. Like many ridden horses he develops secondary muscle trigger points through his back and neck. These respond really well to acupuncture improving his comfort and mobility. His improved ability to stretch and bend in schooling sessions since starting acupuncture has been noticed by their instructor. We alternate between physiotherapy and acupuncture every few months providing all round support.
Kidson’s owner says:
“I have owned Kidson since he was 10 and he is now 19. I decided to try acupuncture after speaking to Dan about potential treatments to help him with his general ex racer stiffness and onset of arthritis in his hocks (which is already treated). Jo visited him in July 2025 for his first acupuncture treatment and I am very pleased with the results. He started with four weekly visits and now has them every eight weeks. He has responded very well and is extremely tolerant of the needles. His overall performance has improved significantly on the left rein and through his back which has also been noted by my instructor and physiotherapist. I would definitely recommend this treatment and am seriously impressed with how quickly we saw an improvement which was in the first few weeks and he seems to
be going from strength to strength. I cant turn his clock back for him as much as I would love to but as an owner I am so happy to be able to provide a treatment that he enjoys and from which he feels the benefit.”
