Pakse – 14 year old Warmblood

Pakkse is a 14yr old Warmblood who came to field equine for 1 week of holiday/fitness livery, at home he is in regular work as a showjumper being ridden 5/6 days per week.

Whilst in resident at Field equine he has received 4 treadmill sessions ranging from 16 -20 minutes in duration, using a fetlock level water 2.5 and a 2 % this is to encourage more core and hindlimb engagement. Along side the treadmill he has also done 2 days in hand and long rein/lunging work in the menage 20 minutes duration, using the equicore band system over a mixture of flat and raised poles. He received one complete day of rest where he was turned out during the day.

We measure his muscle growth in the trapezius area and the mid thoracic region at the beginning of the week and at the end of the week. At the end of the week the measurement has shown that both muscles have developed in growth which shows that Pakkse has been engaging his core correctly and working in a more rounded posture. Posturally he can be seen to of developed more defined muscle through the bicep femoris and an increase growth in thoracic and lumbar muscles. He has increased tone in his abdominal areas.
